Sustainable Letters (Sustain. Lett.) is an open-access journal, ensuring that high-quality research in sustainable chemistry is freely available to readers worldwide. To cover the costs associated with peer review, editorial processes, online hosting, and long-term archiving, the journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts.

There are no APC until December 2025 for all submitted manuscripts.

There are no submission fees, and authors are only required to pay the APC after their manuscript has been accepted for publication.

  1. What Does the APC Cover?

The APC covers the following publication-related expenses:

  • Editorial Processing: Manuscript handling, peer review management, and editorial support.
  • Typesetting and Formatting: High-quality production of articles in multiple formats (PDF, HTML, XML).
  • Online Hosting and Maintenance: Secure and permanent article hosting with DOI allocation.
  • Open-Access Availability: Unrestricted access to published articles worldwide, ensuring high visibility and citation potential.
  • Long-Term Archiving: Indexing and digital preservation through platforms.
  1. APC Waivers and Discounts

Sustainable Chemistry Letters offers full or partial waivers to authors from low-income and developing countries to ensure equitable access to publication opportunities.

3.1 Eligibility for Waivers

  • Corresponding authors from low-income countries (as classified by the World Bank) may apply for a 100% waiver.
  • Authors from lower-middle-income countries may be eligible for a 50% discount.
  • Requests for waivers must be made before manuscript submission via email to the editorial office.

3.2 Discounts for Members

Members of recognized sustainability and green chemistry societies may receive an APC discount of up to 20%.

  1. Payment Process

Once a manuscript is accepted, the corresponding author will receive an APC payment invoice with instructions. Payment can be made via:

  • Credit/Debit Card (via secure online payment gateway)
  • Bank Transfer (bank details provided upon request)
  • Institutional Payment (if covered by research grants or institutional funding)
  1. Refund Policy
  • APCs are non-refundable once payment is processed.
  • If a manuscript is withdrawn before acceptance, no fees are charged.
  • If an article is retracted due to ethical violations, the APC will not be refunded.
