Sustainable Letters (Sustain.  Lett.)

  1. About the Journal

Sustainable Letters (Sustain. Lett.) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing original research articles, reviews, and short communications on sustainable chemistry. The journal covers topics including green synthesis, environmental chemistry, catalysis, bio-based materials, renewable energy, and life cycle assessment of chemical processes.

  1. Manuscript Categories

We accept the following types of submissions:

  • Research Articles: Full-length original studies with significant new findings (6,000–8,000 words).
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive evaluations of recent advances in sustainable chemistry (8,000–12,000 words).
  • Short Communications: Concise reports on novel findings requiring rapid publication (2,000–3,000 words).
  • Perspectives: Opinion-based articles discussing emerging trends (3,000–5,000 words).
  • Technical Notes: Reports on new methodologies or technical improvements (2,000–4,000 words).
  1. Manuscript Preparation

All submissions must be prepared in accordance with the following guidelines.

3.1 General Formatting

  • File format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex).
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced.
  • Margins: 1-inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
  • Line numbering: Continuous line numbers must be enabled.
  • Page numbers: Bottom-center of all pages.
  • Language: Only English-language manuscripts are accepted. Ensure proper grammar and clarity.

3.2 Manuscript Structure

A manuscript should be structured as follows:

Title Page

  • Title: Concise, informative, and ≤20 words.
  • Authors: Full names of all authors.
  • Affiliations: Include department, institution, city, and country.
  • Corresponding Author: Name, email, ORCID ID (if available).
  • Keywords: 4–6 keywords for indexing.
  • Abstract: ≤250 words, summarizing objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions.

Main Text

  1. Introduction: Clearly state the background, problem statement, and objectives.
  2. Materials and Methods: Provide sufficient details for reproducibility. Use SI units and proper chemical nomenclature.
  3. Results and Discussion: Present findings with appropriate statistical analysis and interpretation.
  4. Conclusion: Summarize key findings and their broader implications.
  5. Acknowledgments (if applicable): Mention funding sources and contributors.
  6. Conflict of Interest Statement: Declare any potential conflicts.

References

  • Follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style for referencing.
  • Use EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero for reference management.
  • Citations should be placed alphabetically at the end the text.

  • Journal article: Smith, J.; Doe, A. Sustain. Lett. 2023, 5(4), 234–245.
  • Book: 

Figures and Tables

  • Must be high-resolution (≥300 dpi).
  • Number figures and tables sequentially (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1).
  • Provide clear captions below figures and above tables.
  • Submit figures in JPEG, TIFF, or PNG format.
  • Graphs should be editable (use Excel or OriginLab for plotting).

Authors must submit manuscripts via the Sustain. Lett. online submission system at: 

4.1 Submission Checklist

  • Cover letter
  • Manuscript file (with author details including figures and tables)
  • Supplementary materials (if applicable)

4.2 Peer Review Process

  • The journal follows a single-blind peer review process.
  • Manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate (maximum similarity allowed: 15%).
  • Authors will receive an initial decision within 4–6 weeks.
  • If revisions are requested, authors must resubmit within 3 weeks.
  1. Ethical Guidelines
  • All studies involving humans or animals must have ethics committee approval.
  • Authors must disclose conflicts of interest.
  • Manuscripts should follow COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
  • Plagiarism, duplicate submission, or data fabrication will result in rejection.
  1. Article Processing Charges (APC)

Sustain. Lett. is an open-access journal. The APC is:

  • Research Articles & Reviews: No APC until December 2025
  • Short Communications & Technical Notes: No APC until December 2025
  • Fee waivers are available for authors from low-income countries.
